Bio

Since 2020, Carola van den Dungen has worked as an independent artist from her studio in the north of the Netherlands.

After beginning her artistic practice within an artist duo inspired by the ZERO movement (Zero Art), she developed a distinctive and recognisable visual language of her own.

Her minimalist, often monumental wall sculptures explore the relationship between form, rhythm and light. They emerge from a search for clarity and balance. 

Her sculptures are restrained yet powerful, bringing a sense of natural calm.

​

Working with materials such as wood, paper and acrylic, built up layer by layer, she creates refined reliefs in with repetition and organic structures converge.

Depending on how the light falls, the works continually reveal themselves anew: an ever-changing interplay of shadow depth and stillness.

Current wall sculptures can be viewed by appointment at her studio.

Carola also works on commission.
